Working for a West London based Food Manufacturer who are currently recruitng for a Maintenance Engineer to work 4 on and 4 off shifts, 2 day shifts and 2 night shifts. Your role also plays a vital role in the efficiency, development and progress of manufacturing and processing industries. You will work closely with other departments in order to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and help develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.

Job Accountabilities

  • Diagnosing breakdown problems;
  • Carrying out quality inspections on jobs;
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment;
  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs;
  • Dealing with emergency and unplanned problems and repairs;
  • Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate
  • Fitting new parts
  • Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
  • Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
  • Keeping production managers informed of progress
  • Making scheduled checks on machinery and parts
  • Recalibrating instruments
  • Oiling and cleaning machinery and parts
  • Managing stocks of supplies and equipment
  • Diagnose any electrical or mechanical faults in equipment and carry out any necessary day to day repairs.
  • To ensure correct Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards are adhered to at all times
  • To ensure that all administration and documentation is completed
  • Minimise engineering downtime
  • To assist with the implementation of manufacturing improvement techniques (Lean Manufacturing)
  • To work with key support departments (Production, Hygiene, QA, Stores, Despatch H&S, HR) to maximise performance of the engineering department

Skills Required

  • A minimum of 3 years engineering experience within Food manufacturing
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical, manufacturing, mechanical or production engineering is necessary
  • Qualified Electrical Engineer holding 17th Edition (desirable) Have experience in maintaining and repairing production machinery
  • Electrical Installation Experiences (Commercial / Industrial) Experienced in Routine & Reactive Maintenance
  • Proactive / innovative approach to work
  • High level of attention to detail
  • A driven and determined approach
  • Confident communication skills at all levels
  • Self motivator
  • An awareness of Health & Safety legislation
  • Methodical thinker
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts i.e. early, late and night and staggered hours
  • IT and PC literate
  • Good Communication skills
