Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has just undergone a large refurbishment at their offices and have made a stunning open plan office space where the exciting team of people are encouraged to further their careers and gain as much experience and qualifications as possible. For the right candidate these qualifications could possibly be sponsored. In house design is something that Southend Borough Council boast, and this offers you training and experience. 

The borough is undergoing a lot of regeneration across many different areas and is looking for an Engineer that can add to the group and flourish within the public sector bringing new ideas to the already experienced team. 

The successful candidate would need to carry out feasibility studies, design, consultation plan and manage implementation.

Oversee, design and prepare contract documents for various highways improvement schemes using DMRB and IT packages such as autoCAD or civil 3D.

Prepare projects for implementation and liaise with internal and external parties throughout the progress of the schemes.

Undertake surveys and make assessments to deliver projects or services whilst delivering value for money.

Prepare and present reports on meetings with councillors, MP's and other external bodies including the general public consultations. This may also include telephone and personal enquiries

Supervision and managing the works on site whilst checking all works conform to standards.

Support the team leader in management of projects including monitoring of budgets to ensure timely completion and within budget allocation.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

A HNC or Degree in civil engineering or highways

Have an understanding of highway design requirements

Autocad skills are necessary

An awareness of CDM and health and safety including construction site safety.
