Our Client: One of the largest Design, Installation & Maintenance companies in the south of England. As a company they provide a design, installation & maintenance service covering Electrical / Mechanical / Electrical /Fire & Security they are currently looking for a Fire Extinguisher Sales/Service Engineer.
The Role: Our Client are seeking an experienced fire extinguisher engineer to join their service team. A strong knowledge of BS5306 and formal FETA certification (or equivalent) is essential for the role.
Reporting directly to the Extinguisher Business Manager the duties of the post holder will include the handling, commissioning, service and disposal of all types if portable fire appliances to current British and EN standards. Site and service records are required to be carefully maintained. All works are transmitted to engineers by electronic PDA device. Knowledge of the associated 'CASH’ service management package would be of benefit but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.
The post holder must have good general communication and customer service skills and the confidence to make recommendations for equipment improvement. Knowledge of the current standards covering safety signage will be important for the fulfilment of this role.
As well as using PDA equipment to receive and record service work many of our customers have their own IT 'front end’ equipment and require us to book in and off site via these terminals. An understanding and confidence with such IT interfaces is therefore necessary.
On occasion customers may require product demonstrations and training. The post holder would need to be comfortable and capable delivering training to a professional standard.
The role is field based and whilst some visits will be scheduled for you from the Clients office an element of self-booking may also be required. The post holder must be content to schedule his/her own works on occasion and must do so on the basis of travel minimisation.
The post holder will cover extinguisher maintenance throughout a large territory that includes London and the Home Counties. In view of the associated travelling some periodic staying away may be required.
To assist in the development of the our Clients business the post holder will be making sales related calls. These may be in the form of surveys or simple awareness raising visits.
This will be a significant part of the duties (in terms of time) but is an important supporting action for the establishment of a better nucleated round for the post holder.
