Hays Engineering are delighted to be recruiting a Support Engineer for the design team of our long standing client, a leading manufacturer and supplier of a variety of products to the construction, automotive manufacturing industries They are a respected name in the Northern Irish manufacturing industry, their offering extends to detailed finishes, and value added services in industry certified materials on a bespoke basis. The strength of their offering lies in their ability to respond effectively to customer's manufacturing requirements, working in partnership with clients in strategic new product development.

Your new role
The position has arisen due to the notice of a long-term member of the engineering team. You ll be reporting to the Design Manager to technically and organisationally support the management and processing of data related to the sales, quotation, design, development, manufacturing, quality assurance and after-sales processes.

What you'll need to succeed
Prepare quotations based on both historic data and estimates for new materials & manufacturing processes. Preparation manufacturing codes, ongoing updates to Bills of Material, cutting lists and 2 D Cad drawings. Manipulation of large data for analysis and reporting Preparation of purchase requisitions & orders. Basic practical skills to construct & assemble quality control test gauges. Communicate effectively with internal & external customers, suppliers and sub-contractors. Ensure that all materials & components supplied meet the relevant standards and regulations. Provide timely and accurate information to our Customer Service Department or directly to our customer including presenting updates at project meetings. Agree design & other technical approvals (i.e. colour swatch) and maintain relevant document control & sample transmittal records on our CRM system. Work with the Design and Sales team on commercial issues such as project proposals, estimates, operational planning and identification & calculation of 'extra-over' items. Maintain contact and relationships with clients and our staff to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a Graduate engineer with at least one year's placement in a manufacturing facility. Essential:

  • Proficient in the use of Excel & Microsoft SQL to export databases for analysis and reporting
  • AutoCad experience and good general computer skills
  • Familiarity with technical drawings, material data sheets and specification documents.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach as part of a small team
  • Prepared to travel to visit customers or suppliers occasionally and some short stays away from home
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and staff
  • Ability to organise and prioritise personal work load.
  • Commercial awareness and negotiating skills
  • Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Minimum HND level qualification in an Engineering or Science discipline.
  • Experience of ERP systems
