Role: Advanced Practitioner Sonographer Banding: 7Directorate: Families and Clinical Support ServicesResponsible to: Ultrasound LeadAccountable to: Head of Imaging / HCPC/ Clinical Director and Consultant RadiologistsTo Apply: Please send CV or call Denise on 0207 536 2387The Client's Ultrasound Department, based in Kent, is a small and friendly department; They are predominantly a sonographer lead department with radiologist support.Performing general abdominal, gynaecological, small parts, vascular and MSK scans. All inpatients lists are covered by Sonographers however, they do have Radiologist sessions daily that are always available and willing to offer a second opinion, to scan the more complex cases and perform the interventional procedures.they have 5 ultrasound rooms within the department as well the use of a machine at a satellite hospital to run a weekly list.They a provide 7 day week service (08:00 - 20:00 Mon - Fri and 09:00 - 17:00 Sat and Sun). Key ResponsibilitiesTo accurately perform and report on scans in a timely manner and as directed by the Consultant radiologists and Head of ImagingTo use the 4 point patient ID check policy at all timesTo ensure at all times the ultrasound equipment is used safelyTo achieve high levels of diagnostic outcomes by using experience, knowledge and clinical expertise within scope of practiceAssisting the senior imaging staff with the organisation, function and day to day management of the ultrasound servicesTo work in the department and on mobiles as required and supervise junior staff and promote the maintenance of an efficient, effective and high quality service for all usersTo report any operational problems, deal with machine breakdowns and accidents, completing all paperworkTo be aware of the confidential nature of the work and maintain strictest confidence when dealing with patients, staff and other health service business information with both Trust Policy and the Data Protection act 1984To train and supervise the clinical work/assessment of qualified and student staffThe post holder will be expected to work flexibly over the extended working week, and participate in the departments 7 day working pattern and out of hours serviceTo fulfil CPD commitments, including identifying personal career development needs, and provide evidence when requiredParticipate in any departmental lead rolesBe caring and professional to the patients respecting their privacy, dignity and cultural diversity at all times Job Description The post holder will be required to provide and maintain a high quality ultrasound imaging service for the referring clinicians within the hospital and the local area.Must be able to operate and provide the specialised Imaging element of the ultrasound service, at times working remote from the department and acting on own initiative.To provide clinical and managerial support to the Ultrasound Lead and the Head of Imaging as required.To participate in the entire activity and service provision of the ultrasound service within the Medway NHS Trust ensuring a safe environment for patients and service users is maintained.
