Job Description:

Rail-Ability Ltd is one of the top manufacturers and converters of specialist, Road-Rail machinery worth up to £750,000 to sell into the Railway Industry for carrying out Railway maintenance, renewals works and new infrastructure installations. The company has expanded its activities rapidly since 1999 to the point where the company now convert a comprehensive range of specialist railway equipment including, 360 Excavators Cranes, Tracked Dozers, 4x4 Lorries and they manufacture their own Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, Rail Trailers and various types of hydraulic attachments. We are able to respond, design and manufacture quickly to bespoke one off requirements using state of the art software including SolidWorks 3D Modelling, FEA and DraftSight as well as Hydraulics and Electronics packages. Rail-Ability Ltd provides a fully encompassed service to clients taking projects from the initial concept stage, undertaking mechanical design and systems development, right through to the manufacture, testing, commissioning and certification of the finished working product, all from the company's central midlands factories

Job Role:
The company require a 3D SolidWorks CAD Operator to work within their engineering department to update 3D CAD models and associated drawings. You will be required to measure up parts, assemblies and full products, to then accurately produce 3D models and draft production drawings. Conversion of 2D AutoCAD drawings to 3D models will also be required. Mechanical Design Engineer candidates will be considered with the prospect of enhancing this position, to fulfil a challenging position involving the following aspects:
Key Responsibilities:To engineer design solutions in SolidWorks and DraftSight including:

    Modification & manufacture of bespoke plant, machinery & equipment predominantly for the rail industry.Production of Engineering drawings, parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 2015 3D modelling and DraftSight (2D) Drafting.Analysis of designs by proof calculations and using F.E.A. software (SolidWorks Simulation) to produce detailed machine technical files.Component sourcingDocumentation of designs using Microsoft OfficeFamiliarise and understand required British, European and Railway Standards.
The Candidate:

    3D Solid modelling experience is a prerequisite, preferably in SolidWorks. Guidance from the company's current design team will be available.M Eng./B Eng. or HND Qualifications in design / engineering are advantageous.
