Hours of work are 1.5 to 2.5 hours per class

We require a number of Netball coaches to provide quality coaching in a variety of participation sessions across Fife. The successful candidates will be required to liaise with the sports development officer to plan, lead and review coaching sessions for a mixture of ages and abilities.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.


Successful candidates will be required to hold at least an introductory sport specific coaching award or SCQF Level 5 in Community Sports Leadership or experience in sports coaching.

Successful candidates will be required to be a member of the PVG scheme.


Key responsibilities within the role area:
  • Develop a sports coaching programme which suits the needs of participants, in conjunction with sports development officers
  • Teach a range of skills to people of all ages and abilities
  • Ensure activities are carried in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Undertake a register check of all class participants and ensure proof of payment from class participants
  • To adapt lessons as appropriate in response to individual/groups needs
  • To prepare a series of appropriate lesson plans

The Individual

We require successful candidates to demonstrate:

Experience leading sports coaching sessions with children and young people

Experience of adhering to relevant policies and procedures in relation to health and safety, child protection and accidents/emergencies.

Experience of being able to adapt sessions to suit a wide range of abilities and ages.

Ability to organise a series of sports coaching sessions to develop skill within children and young people

Act as a role model for young people to be involved in sport

Excellent organisational skills

Punctual and reliable

Excellent communication skills with children and young people

Ability to build positive rapport with client group

Ability to communicate with parents and carers on progress of children and young people

Ability to liaise with other agencies including NHS, Active Schools, Facility Providers to ensure a positive customer experience

Ability to provide a regular and effective service
