Multi-skilled service and installation technician required to carry out planned and reactive maintenance of works/site based plant for the fabrication and erection of structural steelwork.

The Position:

Reporting to the Factory Manager, the appointed Maintenance Engineer will assume responsibility for:

  • Carrying out repairs, scheduled maintenance and upgrades on plant and equipment across the production and fabrication site
  • Maintaining levels of stock, equipment and tools necessary for regular repair and maintenance
  • Ensuring that downtime due to plant and equipment failure or break down is minimised
  • General maintenance and repair work to building fabric and premises, as required
  • Installation and maintenance of electrical installations across the site to regulatory standards
  • Production of risk assessments and method of work statements in relation to the works required to be carried out
  • Reporting all incidents (including near misses) promptly to the Director
  • The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Time served (post-apprenticeship) mechanical & electrical installation/maintenance experience
  • (Ideally) 17th Edition electrical qualification
  • A good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, machine tools, motors and pumps
  • An autonomous approach to diagnostic problem solving
  • Experience of working in a heavy fabrication environment
