The Client is the leading provider of market intelligence and insight to the pharmaceutical sector. Their services apply an evidence-based approach to help clients understand the healthcare environment, optimise product and portfolios, transform and implement their evolving commercial models, and provide an objective assessment of the value of medicines.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Sales and Marketing professional from the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry to work in a Business Development type role

The primary purpose of this position is to develop business leads and realtionships across:

Engagement Services - CRM data and data solutions, Multichannel Marketing services

Education and Collaboration Services - Online Education, Events and Webinars

Analytics & Insights Services - Specialist Share Data, Trackers, Bespoke analytics

Planning, Resourcing and Optimisation Services - Therapy Hubs, Research, Medicines Management

NHS Collaboration - Commissioning Excellence, Service Redesign, Disease Insight Reports, Network Meetings, Quantis Portfolio

You will be developing business for these services across the client base that will include Pharmaceutical companies, Generic companies, Bio-tech companies, Agencies, and third parties.

Your objectives include:

Expanding the reach of the above services throughout the client base penetrating Marketing, Brand and Product teams through understanding of the product life cycle journey and the alignment of the services to the sales and marketing actions throughout the life cycle.

Identify opportunities to expand services based on evolving market dynamics and customer challenges.

Commercial responsibility for identifying and developing a pipeline of opportunities in new and existing accounts and closing business to meet monthly and quarterly business targets.

Setting sales targets and activity key performance indicators - including pipeline metrics, call activity and client engagements.

Take ownership of quarterly and annual business plans; responsible for accurate business forecasting.

Working closely with the client services, delivery and project management teams to plan and manage projects from inception to closure procuring appropriate internal and external resources and deliver client projects to the highest possible standards of quality and timeliness, commensurate with clients needs and budgets.

Contribute significantly to new product development based on client need and feedback, planning processes to meet client demand and objectives, overcome client issues and concerns.

Working with marketing on campaigns to generate leads and following up on opportunities to generate sales.

Working with agencies in a consultative role to develop and deliver joint client pitches that showcase the breadth and diversity of the companies services and capabilities

Identify and attend key industry conferences and events to create and drive awareness of services.

This role involves a combination of field and office based with client visits expected to take place 2-3 days per week. Meetings at other offices may be required. The nature of the role requires flexibility and you may be required to work additional hours to service clients requirements and some extended travel/overnight stays may be required


Educated to Management Degree level or equivalent standard.

BHBIA Certification in AER and L&E Framework.

The holder of a clean, full driving license

Desirable: ABPI, Wellards Diploma, Science Degree/ Market Research Degree/MRS Diploma in Market & Social Research

Proven track record of selling and successfully developing and growing business.

Working within a pharma/ healthcare agency environment in the UK.

Marketing and brand planning


Business acumen to achieve sales objectives

Negotiation, Persuasive & influencing internally and externally

Highly motivated with a drive to succeed and a passion for sales.

Target driven and money motivated individual.

Excellent time management and planning skills.


Knowledge of the UK health care structure and impact of current changes on the healthcare industry.

Knowledge of the life sciences industry and their sales and marketing techniques, requirements and budgeting and planning cycles

Excellent knowledge of the regulatory requirements and limitations of healthcare research as governed by the MRS, BHBIA, ABPI, ESOMAR etc
