This requires teamwork and a great deal of customer focus as well as technical expertise across the company. Our inspectors are tasked with verifying parts using various measurement methods. A skilled inspector also needs to have the mathematical skills to interpret engineering drawings and determine how to measure these key characteristics as well as the hands-on experience with measurement tools and the essential attention to detail required to see it through. CoorsTek Glenrothes has been in the town for over 36 years and produces engineered ceramics into a variety of industrial sectors. Our technical ceramics are created on site by pressing and firing chemical formulations which are then machined to customer requirements. The types of characteristics to be tested include geometric dimensions, surface finishes, chemical properties and more. No two days are the same as the variety of parts and customers change constantly. Just as important as technical ability, the successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic and the desire to accept responsibility and progress their skills and knowledge in a company that strives to keep improving and requires flexibility from all employees. People will only be place on shifts after competency is proven on day shift, time dependent on progress. Main Duties: Determines methods of measuring key engineered characteristics to meet the customer specifications. Approval of finished product prior to shipping by conducting visual and measurement tests using CMM’s, micrometers, microscopes, verniers and various gauges and clocks. Recording and analysing the results of inspections to determine whether any adjustments need to be made or re-work carried out. Utilises the company software to record inspection data Works in a methodical and calm manner and demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude. Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with co-workers, management and customers. Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills, coaches others and provides honest and constructive feedback in order to keep driving improvements within the inspection department. Actively engages in quality investigations, root cause analyses, specification reviews and improvement activities within the ISO/TS quality frameworks. Demonstrates competency in the basics of Microsoft Office. Outlook and databases are used daily with spreadsheets and word documents being used occasionally To be suitable for this role you must have the following experience / characteristics: Demonstrates extensive understanding of engineering drawings and terms. This may come from having served an apprenticeship or attained engineering qualifications in further education but definitely having built on this by having valuable experience of working in a quality and customer –driven modern manufacturing environment (5+ years). Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping Ability to explain findings confidently, truthfully and diplomatically to promote a positive working environment Proficient in use of precision inspection equipment within a technical engineering/manufacturing environment Experience of working within an ISO/IATF accredited organisation where electronic standard operating procedures and systems form the framework for the quality function Understanding of principles of SPC and sampling methods for both attribute and measurement data Comfortable being involved in accreditation and customer audits and To be more suitable for this role it would be more advantageous if you have the following skills / experience: Experience of quality improvement initiatives including Six Sigma Involvement in training/supervision/ presenting information Familiarity with technologically advanced measuring equipment and techniques Analysis of quality based data against process metrics Participation in root-cause and/or 8D investigation activities Qualified in the calibration of measuring equipment Material property testing expertise Benefits: Mon - half day Friday 39 hour week Overtime at basic x 1.5 Quarterly Bonus Scheme in place – based on plant and company performance Contributory Pension Scheme – 6% employer contribution Life Assurance Enhanced Sick Pay Scheme NO AGENCIES PLEASE
