AUXILIARY PLANT ATTENDANT WHOLESALE – RENEWABLE OPERATIONS CONON SECTION – CONTIN SALARY £18,322 – £24,197 DEPENDING ON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE SSE Hydro Generation operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our hydro generation assets. We currently have an opportunity for an Auxiliary Plant Attendant to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based at Contin, Dingwall, Ross-shire. IV14 9EG The multi-disciplined team in the Conon Section is responsible for the day to day operation, maintenance and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state. You will assist in the safe operation and maintenance of the Hydro Generation fixed plant and associated water catchment area. You will be responsible for routine work involving inspections and checks on power stations, dams, buildings and civil catchments and maintaining all buildings, plant and catchment. You will also assist the maintenance team to carry out minor repairs and maintenance. You'll carry out routine checks and help to keep all our premises and fixed plant to a high standard cleanliness and operational effectiveness. You'll communicate effectively with other team members and report operational defects as they arise. You'll carry out risk assessments, plus environmental and safety inspections and will receive training to operate fixed Generation plant. To be successful in this role, you will be a practical person with the ability to work as part of a team and able to communicate effectively as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business. You will be required to work with other teams in other areas of the business on occasions. You will have some basic trade skills and be able to demonstrate some knowledge of civil maintenance works including ditching, road repairs and building maintenance and repairs. You should ideally have previous experience of civil works. Due to the nature of the role you will be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out with normal working hours when required. You will be computer literate and will be required to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software and other company software applications for which training will be given. A full driving licence is essential and a first aid qualification would be advantageous. Applicants should ideally reside, or be prepared to relocate to within 30 miles of Contin.
