Job Title – Field Service Engineer
Location– Covering the whole of the UK (based out of the Midlands or South of England)
Package - £33k to £38k (OTE £55k+ including overtime) + Van + Fuel Card + 33 days of Holiday
Hours of Work – Monday to Friday (Days), 39 hours per week + overtime (1.5x & 2.0x).
Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, install and service of special purpose machinery. Established for three quarters of a Century, they supply to a wide range of industries including Food, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Waste Handling and Automotive.
From their base in the Heart of the Midlands, they can provide completely bespoke, fully automated production and materials handling solutions, specifically catered to their client’s needs. The business is experiencing a rapid period of expansion thanks to organic growth and several competitor acquisitions.
As the Field Service Engineer you would be required to perform two functions within the service team. The first is to perform routine, planned maintenance on customer’s equipment (70%); the second is to react to breakdowns (30%). This is a very autonomous role, with the Field Service Engineer planning their own diary and arranging their own visits with customers.
The role is specifically working on Balers and Compactors, covering the whole of the UK, so nights away from home will be common place Monday to Friday. All Accommodation and Food when away is paid for by the business by means of a Company Credit Card, but would need to be arranged by the Engineers themselves.
Electrically the Field Service Engineer will be fault finding on the equipment using a multimeter through to faulty components including 3 phase motors, sensors, switches, contactors, inverters, relays, trips and safety circuits. Mechanical components include hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, rollers, gearboxes and shafts. Parts would need to be swapped like for like, either from the Spares carried in the Van or ordered in to site for more specialist components.
To be successful in your application you must have the following skills or attributes:
- Must have previous experience working as a Service or Maintenance Engineer.
- Must have a recognised Engineering Qualification.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be willing to stay away when required.
