An excellent opportunity has become available to become a Multi Skilled Site Maintenance Engineer at one of the UK's leading horticultural businesses, which includes the growing, processing, packaging, marketing and distribution of fresh cut flowers. Our client has a substantial market share and successfully supplies most of the UK's premier retailers.

The role itself will be working alongside the Engineering department to ensure the site is running to full capacity and to oversee the maintenance of mechanical/electrical components. You will develop maintenance practices to ensure the best in industry standards for reliability, wastage and cost effectiveness. You will also generate, propose and action improvement for projects and assets within the site. The role will encompass new installations, commissioning systems, fault finding/repairs and monitoring/assessing machinery. There will also be an opportunity to be involved in many automation projects in the future

Key Areas of responsibility

  • Undertaking and proposing asset care routines, ensuring their completion and effectiveness
  • Providing breakdown and performance maximisation for the operations team
  • Communicating to colleagues, Maintenance manager, team leaders and other relevant parties
  • Liaise with on site contractors when necessary
  • Identifying training needs of operators

Main Accountabilities

  • Ensure maximum output
  • Ensure all machinery and buildings are safe and comply with regulations
  • Effectively undertake all maintenance and repair work
  • Report all maintenance issues
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement of processes on site
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed

Experience and Skills

  • Must have a proven track record working in maintenance within a manufacturing environment
  • A recognised electrical engineer qualification (City of Guilds, BTEC or HNC)
  • Experience in machinery maintenance
  • Ability to undertake all electrical and mechanical maintenance under own supervision
  • A basic knowledge of electronics and control systems
  • Good Health and Safety Knowledge (certification would be beneficial)
