EB4975: Instrument Calibration and Repair Technician

Salary: £20,000 to £29,000 plus Benefits

Location: Nuneaton, West Midlands

Position: Permanent

An exciting requirement for an Instrument Calibration and Repair Technician has arisen to work with a world class, independent engineering consultancy, operating in multiple locations around the world, to support vehicle manufacturers and their supply chain with cutting-edge engineering and testing expertise

This Client is looking to employ an Instrument Calibration and Repair Technician to conduct instrument calibration and repair.

Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform multi-disciplinary instrument calibration without supervision to approved procedures.

  • Maintain proper calibration records.

  • Work as a team with other Department Staff.

  • Perform an initial assessment of instrument faults arising during calibration.

  • Maintain laboratory systems for calibration equipment storage.

  • Use computer databases for equipment management.

  • Quickly learn the use of new reference equipment & methods.

  • Planning and execution of instrument calibration on client sites including client liaison

  • Assist Engineering staff with the development of calibration methods & reference equipment.
  • Preparation of technical calibration reports for clients.
  • Use computer based systems for the processing of calibration data.
  • Ensure all reference standards and calibration equipment are maintained and used in a suitable manner.
  • Use of manual handling equipment.

  • Ability to carry out fault finding to component level.

  • Good soldering skills including ability to replace surface mount devices, preferably with IPC-610 and IPC-620 training

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • 2 years in a similar role within a multi- parameter UKAS Accredited Calibration laboratory.

  • Use of manual handling equipment.

  • Ability to carry out fault finding to component level.

  • Good soldering skills including ability to replace surface mount devices, preferably with IPC-610 and IPC-620 training

Preferred

  • 5 years working in a multi-parameter UKAS accredited Calibration laboratory.
  • Knowledge of Fluke MetCal, Opto22 software and NI Labview would be an advantage.

    Qualifications:

    Essential

  • HNC (Level 4) in Electronic Engineering or Equivalent.

  • Driving licence

    Preferred

  • HND (Level 5) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

  • Measurement NVQ Level 3
