Description of Area of Business
Computershare Communication Services (CCS) provides end to end communication solutions and services to Computershare Group Companies and through direct relationships to external clients.
Externally CCS provides transactional communication solutions including the provision of advice notes, statements, cheque payments, payment advice, and share trade confirmations.
Internally CCS provides a full range of shareholder and employee plan holder communications in support of core Computershare Business Units as well as specialised communications supporting specific business unit requirements. CCS has the capability to provide all communications in either electronic or physical mailpack form.
As well as managing outgoing communications CCS posses the capability to store, archive and retrieve documents and provide accessibility of these documents to consumers, customer service personnel and other trusted intermediaries as permissions allow.
The business has the capability to provide inbound document processing utilising Computershare’s existing inbound scanning, classifying and routing systems to capture information and process it in line with client business rules.
Globally CCS has operations in five countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, UK and USA) across 11 operational locations.
Main Purpose of the Role
Working within the CCS Composition Team, the Analyst Programmer is responsible for defining and documenting detailed technical requirements and devising technical solutions to meet client business objectives for both electronic and paper based communication.The Analyst Programmer is also expected to contribute to complex programming tasks, provide technical leadership and architect solutions to meet our client’s expectations, ensuring our ISO9001/ISO27001 procedures and internal standards are followed.The Analyst Programmer will also be responsible for coaching and supporting junior programmers and will get involved in planning and overseeing the technical aspect of projects.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a strong technological background including a degree linked to information technology, 5 years’ experience in a development position with requirement gathering exposure.
He/she will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to successfully liaise with internal and external customers and show a committed approach to high quality work and relationships.
Key Responsibilities
  • Meet stakeholders, review/gather business requirements and create detailed technical documentation
  • Design technical solutions to meet client’s requirements ensuring they are scalable, supportable, maintainable and meet our standards
  • Provide technical lead, contribute to development and oversee the technical aspect of projects
  • Provide effective “third-line” support for systems and libraries developed by CCS
  • Liaise with our Global Development and Solution teams to understand latest technology, best practice and provide input to help shape our services
  • Liaise with the UK technology team (CTS) and provide feedback and input to ensure our infrastructure and the services provided are fit for purpose
  • Contribute to programming workload (projects and BAU work)
  • Provide and promote a service delivery culture towards our clients (Client Services, Production, etc), showing a "can do" attitude. When required, engage and proactively advise our clients in order to deliver a better service
  • Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science and/or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering and programming principals
  • 5 years minimum experience in a commercial programming environment with requirement gathering exposure
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, suggest and implement changes to improve workflow efficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in conjunction with strong presentation abilities.
  • Strong quality attitude, attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Proactive, positive, enthusiastic with a can do attitude. Results orientated. Can progress several projects/tasks concurrently
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Strong leadership qualities to influence team members to achieve business goals within timelines
  • Strong understanding of Perl and/or experience of one or more object oriented programming languages like C++ or Java, etc
  • Good understanding of web and database technologies (SQL, XML, XSLT, HTML and Web Services)

  • Experience of working in an agile environment (Scrum)
  • Experience as a Business Analyst
  • Previous knowledge of the printing industry
