You will need to have:

  • A 1st or 2:1 degree in a Science related degree
  • Matching A Levels and GCSE grades
  • An ability to work full time for the remainder of this academic year
  • A commitment to the wider school and a passion for seeking a career within education
  • A passion for education
  • Teaching aspirations

As an English Academic Mentor you will be working within a large English department, planning lessons alongside the English teaching staff and exploring ways to incorporate creativity with the teaching syllabus.

Once you have built your confidence you will be given the freedom to to adapt planning and deliver your own intervention lessons that stretch the higher ability students. You will also offer support to low ability students in class, in order to ensure that all students have the best opportunity to make progress.

Although planning and resources will be guided by the teaching staff; the school welcomes creativity and believes there is still room for variety.

To ensure you settle into your new role and environment as quickly as possible the leadership team will assign you a personal mentor who will be available to guide and support you at every step of your development .
