The Bupa Cromwell Hospital is recruiting for a Lead Nurse to join our Oncology Directorate

Our oncology services include a 29 bedded ward, 7 bed day unit, gamma knife and radiotherapy treatments, an on site aseptic suite, and provides an excellent environment for patients, families and staff. Our nursing team takes a multidisciplinary approach to provide patient and family focused care, in an environment that supports lifelong learning and opportunities for professional development.

This is an influential role and recognised as being critical to the delivery of Bupa Cromwell Hospital's Strategy. The Lead Nurse will be a team player who treats all colleagues with equal respect, is inclusive and democratic but also prepared to manage staff to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective services. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for advancing change in four main areas of impact - quality, patient experience, finance and efficiency, and leadership and skills development.

Skills and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC pin
  • Extensive post registration experience in an acute setting (preferably Oncology)
  • Evidence of substantial clinical experience and ability to function at level required of the post
  • Teaching/Assessing qualification
  • Management qualification
  • Strong record of proven clinical leadership
  • Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change.
  • Evidence of successful cost management
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Strong record of proven clinical leadership
  • Experience of teaching, research and knowledge of current CQC Regulations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in nursing management, including infection prevention and the implementation of policies and SOPs for safe practice E.g. WHO surgical checklist.
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Director and other consultants maintain a robust clinical governance system to assure patients of the highest standard of care acting within an assurance framework.
  • Act as a change agent and innovator, promoting an effective change culture within the nursing, medical and multi professional teams, with particular reference to current research and relevant NICE guidance.
  • Provide clinical advice to nurses, doctors and clinical professionals throughout the BCH and referring practitioners Participate in development and facilitation of new procedures, techniques and protocols for the BCH actively supporting business development identifying opportunities when possible.
  • Teaching senior nurses to be commercially aware.
  • In collaboration with nursing colleagues and chief nurse promote the nursing strategy and provide specialist advice for own work stream, guiding the staff with the vision of the most advanced hospital in London.
