In 2015, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital became a single Foundation Trust. This has helped secure the future of both major acute hospitals and offers all of our (over 5,000) staff fantastic opportunities to develop their career, to innovate and develop even better services for patients.
We have made significant capital investments (around £10 million a year) in our hospitals over the past 10 years. A midwife-led maternity unit; a £24million children’s unit and a burns unit on the Chelsea site; new and refurbished A&Es; a cardiac catheter lab at West Middlesex and a new sexual health clinic at 10 Hammersmith Broadway will be followed in the next few years by a £25 million investment in critical care facilities at Chelsea and we intend to invest £7 million on our labour ward. The paediatric Unit at the west Middlesex hospital site has been part of a multi- million pound redevelopment programme encompassing the whole site resulting in a state of the art hospital facility. As of the 1st September 2015 which was a landmark date for Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex hospitals we have now officially come together to form the enlarged Foundation Trust. Children’s Services provides a wide range of acute services, which includes a children’s acute inpatient ward, Paediatric assessment unit, a children’s day unit, a dedicated Children’s Out Patients Department, a Home Nursing Service for Children and a dedicated Children’s A& E department.
