Fernard Ltd are looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to take on the role of assisting business growth through effective financial management.

Key Role Objectives:
  • Oversee the financial activities, management and control of all company accounts and to play a key role in its development and growth.
  • Provide day to day management and leadership of a small finance team.
  • Be responsible for all the day to day accounts for the company up to and including trial balance and the production of management accounts that will accurately reflect the current performance of the business.
  • Manage the company accounts with a good understanding and knowledge of the appropriate software programmes used for each company’s accounts (Xero).

  • Know and understand the profit/loss of the business.

  • Maintain an accurate cash flow budget and forecast.

  • Monitor appropriate KPIs and internal controls for the business including financial planning, modelling and forecasting processes.

  • Know and understand the financial position of the business at all times.

Your day to day role will involve:

Produce monthly management accounts that accurately reflect the performance of the business.

Review management accounts against forecasts and investigate any anomalies.

Present and interpret monthly management accounts to senior management – with observation and comment.

Control financial resources, overseeing cash flow to ensure funds are available for operational needs.

Work with senior management team to formulate strategic and long term business plans.

Analyse competitors and market trends.

Carry out due diligence on any acquisition targets.

Prepare the payroll monthly for approximately 20 staff (PAYE and P11ds)

Complete bank reconciliations.

Prepare VAT returns.

Oversee processing of invoices and expenses.

Oversee purchase and sales ledger processing.

Balance control accounts.

Balance sheet reconciliation.

Prepare monthly forecasts.

Work with junior members of the finance team to promote their development and ensure that the department is run as efficiently as possible.
Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Qualified ACCA / CIMA or equivalent (nearly qualified will be considered).

  • Previous proven experience working as a Finance Manager/Financial Controller.

  • Experience of implementing and maintaining financial controls.

  • Experience of using Xero accounts software.

  • Experience of preparing monthly payroll.

  • Delivery of duties with minimal supervision.

  • Ability of managing a small team of finance staff.
