Machine Shop Supervisor

circa £25-30k

Our client a specialist engineering company are looking to recruit an Production / Works Manager situated on the outskirts of Wetherby / York . Your responsibilities cover all planning , coordination and control of manufacturing processes ensuring goods and service production run smoothly incorporating all costs and quality management. You will manage pre-production and production processes overseeing each stages conducted through people management.

• Oversee the production process, drawing up a production schedule
• Ensure that the production is cost effective
• Resource planning and stock control management
• Estimate project costs and quality standard requirements
• Monitor the production processes amending schedules where needed
• Responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment
• Monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes
• Implement company's policies and goals to workers
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed
• People management – reviewing worker performances, supervise and motivate a team of workers
• Provide appropriate training needs
• Assist with product design
• Control purchasing requirements
• Data processing, stock, time sheets, employee records, time sheets, tooling performance, standard procedure development, Health and Safety records
• Planning and organisation skills to be able run and monitor the production process
• Ability to audit works processes and the Quality System
• Ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems
• Capacity to grasp concepts easily
• Computer Literate
• Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers and clients
• Strong negotiation skills for getting materials within budget and at the right time;
• Previous experience working under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrate a Logical, systematic manner
• Experience knowledge CNC Machining , CADCAM , CMM , Autocad and Microsoft programmes.

A foundation degree, HND or degree in the following subjects are desirable:
• Business Management
• Materials Science / Technology
• Mechanical Engineering;
• Process Engineering;
• Quality Control

Salary circa £25 - 30,000/ year
Working hours
Mon- Friday 40 hours per week (flexibility may be required)
