What’s it all about?

Sage One is designed specifically for startups, small businesses, freelancers and sole traders.

No jargon, no confusing processes just an easy way to get things done.

Our Accounting and Payroll web applications are available in 9 different countries, each one localised to meet specific market needs.

We're growing fast, and as a result are expanding our Sage One teams around the world. At present we are looking for a talented, passionate and ambitious Senior Engineer to join our growing community in the UK based in the Newcastle head office.

Sage One is a collection of Ruby on Rails/Sinatra service applications with a HTML/CSS and JavaScript based front end. We use RSpec for unit testing and we are currently in the process of transforming our architecture to adopt a more modularised set of smaller services alongside a ReactJS front end.

You’ll be joining an existing team of highly skilled and driven individuals, working together to form customer focused agile scrum teams, employing Test Driven methodologies and continuously shipping code to production.

We’re working on several exciting new projects as part of our move to a container based, service oriented architecture, building smaller, discrete services that can be deployed regularly as new features and improvements are written. On the front end, we’re using the latest web technologies (ReactJS, HTML5, CSS3, ES6) to drive a consistent look and feel across all our products, whilst improving the development experience. The addition of ideas and experience from talented individuals will help us to shape these projects.

Successful applicants will be working in a fast-paced Apple Mac environment using the latest technology to develop highly scalable, high quality, high availability and secure web applications following all the latest web technologies and processes.

Who we’re looking for:

Individuals combining a passion for the North East, software development, openness to new ideas and technologies and able to work in a collaborative manner with the local and global development teams delivering products that make a real difference to our partners and customers around the world.
