Information Systems Architect

Location: Bristol

Job Description

The business is growing a digital, data and technology capability that is both inward and externally facing. You will be assigned across industry sectors within the businesses client base comprising Defence, Security, Government, Nuclear, Rail, Transport and Energy sectors. The group is expected to grow to reflect the ubiquitous nature of information systems technology.

You will be joining a growing team and you'll work on exciting projects in the UK and worldwide. The businesses Information Systems and Security sector is a successful and rapidly growing part of our business which has developed significantly in terms of footprint and capability over the last 12 months. Your efforts will help drive this success though delivering high quality technical advice and systems based problem-solving.

Job Role:

The business is looking for experienced technical architects and modellers with experience in at least 2 of the following skill areas:

  • Information systems architecture: Developing MODAF and/or TOGAF views in support of concept programmes. SOSA experience would be advantageous.
  • Modelling languages and tools: SysML/UML, MOOD, Rhapsody and Enterprise architect.
  • Open Architecture Standards; GVA and LOSA. Similar initiatives across other sectors.
  • Technical Strategy development and technology road mapping.
  • Business change and service transformation.

In addition to this skill base, people with experience in the following domains, from a supplier/integrator, authority or independent advice/assurance perspective will have the edge:

  • C4I development, project such as BCIP, Morpheus and wireless data radios.
  • Defence architecture design: SOSA and similar defence concept development.
  • Civil Security/police: design of video and data networks for security purposes.
  • Civil Utilities/Aviation: Digital transformation.
  • Home Office/Border Force: Supporting digital networks and enabling technologies.

The role will be client facing and successful candidates are expected to work in a dynamic fast paced consultancy environment. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • Consultancy skills: working with clients and potentially as part of an embedded client team.
  • Excellent Systems engineering and problem solving abilities.
  • Facilitation skills: fostering a team approach and managing effective meetings.
  • Communication skills: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional qualifications in a relevant discipline, and evidence of further continual personnel development.

Successful candidates will need some experience or aptitude for leading or contributing to bids and tenders and ideally have an understanding of project management in a commercial environment.
