The Largest water and waste-water services company in the UK are looking for a Fleet Compliance Lead to join their team in Swindon. The company provide an essential service at the heart of daily life, health and enjoyment to 15 million customers across London. On a typical day, they supply 2.6 billion litres of top quality drinking water and their 350-sewage treatment works treat more than 4.2 billion litres of waste water.


The role will support in ensuring the vehicle & fleet team is legally compliant and cost effective, with the assistance from fleet operators. This will be for a mixed fleet of circa 2,500 assets, including cars, LCVs, HGVs and plant.

The successful candidate will provide cost management & analysis on vehicle usage & maintenance spend, ensuring value for money from service providers; including resolving any fleet issues and challenging where necessary. You will manage testing requirements to reduce risk to compliance, and assist with audits; along with the supporting of compliance to our operator licence obligations.

Due to the nature of this role, there will be frequent travel.

As Fleet Compliance Lead you will be responsible for: -
  • Adopting a business-partnering approach to build and maintain strong relationships but internally with our wider fleet & logistics team and with our service providers;
  • Protecting the company's operators licence, through timely and effective management and administration, including tachograph analysis, vehicle maintenance and inspections, notifications to the traffic commissioner;
  • Identifying further opportunities to reduce downtime through monitoring trends and making recommendations for updates to maintenance schedules supported by costs/benefit analysis;
  • Managing costs associated with vehicle repair and maintenance, challenging and seeking solutions with consideration to operational and financial impacts;
  • Adopting a continuous improvement approach to processes and procedures falling within your remit, providing support to other team members within your area of expertise;
  • Performing audits to ensure compliance with legislation and internal policy in regards to: licence & vehicle checks, drivers laws, fuel usage, O-licence and undertaking of fleet & plant maintenance.


To be a successful Fleet Compliance Lead you will have the following skills and experience: -
  • Experienced fleet professional;
  • In depth knowledge of vehicle and driving legislation;
  • Previous experience of plant and vehicle maintenance preferably from being qualified in motor vehicle engineering/technician;
  • Experience of British domestic & European driver’s regulations, transport law, road traffic law, along with other relevant legislation;
  • Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and a Transport Manager CPC is desirable.


In return, the Fleet Compliance Lead will receive a salary of up to £33k dependant on experience and benefits package including a competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, child care vouchers, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more.
