Content Editor (Video) Newcastle
Do you want to work in one of the country's most exciting newsrooms? Are you brimming full of ideas for great content? Do you thrive on knowing what readers are looking at and watching minute-to-minute? Then we may have the job for you.
We're looking for a Content Editor to drive compelling, shareable video on our website and across our large social media channels.
ChronicleLive is one of the biggest regional news websites in the UK, and over the last two years we've seen explosive growth of audience for video.
Trinity Mirror plc, with an award-winning portfolio of newspapers, websites and digital products, is one of the UK's largest multimedia companies employing more than 6,000 people across 60-plus locations around the country.
Trusted, relevant, reliable and essential on social, mobile, desktop and in print, our loyal readers and advertisers are attracted by the knowledge, insight and vital services that our iconic brands (ChronicleLive, the Chronicle, Journal and Sunday Sun in the North East, and the Daily Mirror nationally, to name just a few) provide. None of this would be possible without our dedicated employees driving the business forward.
Trinity Mirror plc has a strong benefits package which includes, for this role, a competitive salary and pension (to be discussed at interview).
We want someone to join the content desk at the heart of our digital newsroom to bring high standards and creative ideas to our news, sport and what's on video content.
You'll join a team of talented content managers responsible for managing journalists, photographers and video producers who are delivering content for online audience spikes throughout the day.
You'll use audience data to know the type of video that works well, on which platforms, at the right time each day.
You'll brief reporters and photographers to create great video, setting impeccable publishing standards to ensure we get the highest possible levels of audience engagement.
You'll also join a network of video and content editors across our regional network of sites who have helped to drive our video views to nearly 30million per month - and we want the Chronicle to be at the cutting-edge of what's happening with online video and storytelling.
We're looking for someone who preferably has newsdesk or content editing experience, and who has a strong understanding of how to commission and develop content across a range of topics.
It doesn't matter whether you're from a broadcast, print or online background - but at least two years' journalistic experience and full NCTJ-accredited qualifications are essential, and management experience is desirable.
You need to be someone with creative ideas, the ability to tell stories in different ways, and a proven passion for video. You'll understand the value of social media, and you'll have great contacts and instincts for sourcing and sharing footage.
Great attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to think on your feet are vital.
