Robert Half are delighted to be working as a Retained Partner with Avon Rubber p.l.c to recruit a Commercial Group Accountant to join their Finance Team based in Melksham, Wiltshire.


Following a recent appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer, the business has undertaken a review of the finance team. As part of this review a new role of Group Accountant has been created within the corporate finance team based in head office.

The role has come available as a result of significant growth due to the acquisition of a number of rental and technology businesses.

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious chartered accountant to move from practice to closely work with the CFO and leadership team of a FTSE listed PLC.

The Role

The role will report to the Group Financial Controller and will support in the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful reporting of monthly business results to the Group Executive and the Board.

The role will also support the monthly group consolidation process and preparation of the annual and half year reports.

This will give the individual commercial exposure and visibility across the Group which will gain you excellent experience for future career options.

Key Responsibilities

Working as part of the Avon Rubber finance team contributing to all aspects of financial control and financial compliance for the group.

This will include supporting:

  • timely and meaningful monthly management reporting;
  • cash-flow maximisation;
  • all aspects of financial reporting, production of financial statements and the annual report;
  • implementing and overseeing the group's financial compliance arrangements; ensuring the smooth and timely completion of external and internal audits, resolving all audit issues;
  • tender reviews;
  • tax compliance;
  • treasury and cash management;
  • group insurance programme;
  • managing the group finance systems;
  • payment of and changes to remuneration and benefits

  • Continuously improving financial control and planning processes to deliver a best-in-class function with a robust focus on cash generation and cost control.

  • Helping with the budgeting process to ensure that the approved budget is effectively used as the yardstick for measuring business performance both at sector/ divisional level as well as for the overall Group.

  • Supporting operational and strategic decision-making processes from a financial perspective, developed through the interpretation and meaningful analysis of financial data.

  • Ensuring effective internal controls are in place; implementing and enforcing compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Identifying financial and business risks and working towards mitigating these risks.

  • Developing an expert market knowledge of the sectors which Avon Rubber operates in.


  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent

  • Newly Qualified ACA (preferably trained within a top tier firm)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Prepared to undertake occasional international travel

Salary & Benefits

£45000 - £50,000 + Benefits including:
