An opportunity has arisen for a Platform & Systems Engineering Manager to join out Network & Infrastructure Team on a permanent basis.

Zen has developed a three year grown objective underpinned by the platforms and services delivered by the Technology Department. Working within the Technology department as the Platform and Systems Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

The ongoing operation of Zen’s key business systems and platforms.Maintaining a careful balance of system and service stability in a dynamic environment.Leading and managing the Platform and Systems Engineering (PSE) team.Acting as a central escalation point. This includes operating an out-of-hours on-call support team.Manage all work into the team, prioritising in-line with the needs of the department and reporting upwards on a regular basis.Building and developing close and effective relationships with internal partners and external suppliers.Performance management and on-going development of team members.Future technology forms an essential part of this role including the expansion of Cloud capabilities. The Platform and Systems Manager will work closely with other teams within the department to identify opportunities where technologies can enable improvements.

At department level, the Platform and Systems Manager will be expected to work closely with their peers to identify common challenges, drive forward improvements and be comfortable leading and managing change on different scales. A willingness to share and flex resources for the wider benefit of the business will also be important.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure you will be in a position to shape and drive the delivery of technology within the department to ensure the business is able to deliver its 3 year growth plan.

Skills & Experience

Enthusiastic, driven, self-motivated with a focus on delivering excellent service in support of internal solution delivery teamsSignificant experience in leading highly technical operational teams and managing of team work prioritiesSignificant experience in and passion for building and leading teams, people management, personal development planning and coaching othersExcellent communicator, listener and facilitator with a proven ability to work as part of a teamExperience in working with and leading changes to enterprise scale business platforms and infrastructureExperience in working with software development teams and Agile delivery environmentsExposure to Agile principles and delivery practices including Continuous Integration/ Delivery/ DeploymentDesirable

Experience in managing and maintaining platforms such as TFS, Thoughtworks Go, ELK, Puppet, VMware, SQL Server and Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, O365) across Windows and Linux–based environmentsExposure to both public and private cloud platforms including across IaaS, PaaS and SaaSExperience in and understanding of DevOps principles and implementationExperience in structured change management including core service management frameworks (e,g, ITIL)Exposure to strategic planning and development and formal project management is beneficialBusiness commercial awareness with experience of working across various business areas at both operational and management levelsExposure to techniques and principles of business and enterprise architecture (e.g. TOGAF)Experience in working with standards including ISO9001, ISO27001, PSN/ CAS-T and PCI-DSSPrevious experience working in a Telecoms business is beneficial
