As the Plant Controller, the role will see you take full responsibility for the finances of the plant, as well as being the Number 2 to the Plant Director assisting on other operational matters. You will have complete P&L responsibility and be tasked with budgeting, creating forecasts, cost accounting, managing cash-flows and preparation of a range of financial reports.
The role will see you manage a small team including an experienced Cost Controller, you will have multiple reporting lines into the Plant Director and the Group Finance Team. Transactional finance will sit in a separate SSC (Shared Service Centre) environment so your focus will be on operational and commercial finance.

It is likely you will have come from a manufacturing, construction or logistics background and are looking to move into a hands-on role. Although not a pre-requisite, it is unlikely you will come from a Head Office Environment, and should be used to be working in an operational site.
From a technical perspective, you will have an impeccable eye for detail and not be satisfied with the status quo, although processes and controls are in place, you should be moving into the role with the view of consistent improvement. There are a number of complexities to the role, so you should be comfortable with cost accounting, financial modelling and regular change.
From a personal perspective, you should be confident to deal with colleagues on the shop floor or in the board-room, and be comfortable managing upwards and downwards in the hierarchy. This is an autonomous role, so you should be a self-starter and be able to plan your own time.
The business is a global organisation, but not a common household name, with a number of operations throughout the UK. They are in a period of change, following some recent movements internally and are taking a view of consistent improvement across all divisions. The person coming into this role, should expect a friendly local culture, with a number of tenured staff mixed with some new hires. Although a hard-working environment, there is a balance, and even on month-end you should expect to be home by 6pm.
