Press Officer: A leading Christian campaign group is seeking an experienced, energetic Press Officer to increase its impact in UK news media coverage. In this new role you will increase the impact and clarity of the organisation's message, in line with strategic objectives. You will also develop and strengthen relationships with journalists and news editors.

The Press Officer should be passionate about this not-for-profit organisation's Christian mission, and seeing Jesus Christ impact public debate and media coverage.

The ideal person will improve internal processes, maximising the efficiency with which the story is told to the public, and help to plan and develop the overall messaging and narrative around key issues and legal cases.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative Press Officer to join and grow with this organisation as it develops its communications structure, launches new communication channels and realigns its communications.

*Be the first point of contact for all enquiries, respond to interview requests / requests for comment
*Develop ongoing relationships with the media / journalists
*Facilitate new opportunities to increase media profile of issues
*Oversee media coverage and secure copies / recordings of media appearances
*Assist spokespersons ahead of interviews / appearances
*Reinforce key messages of the organisation, plan and manage various stories / key talking points for maximum public impact and assist with reputational risk management
*Produce news releases and commission relevant assets to boost impact
*Liaise with church communication team - to ensure the appropriate communication of cases / campaigns and ensure maximum impact of story amongst supporters

Skills and experience:

*Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience
*At least 2 years proven experience working in media facing / PR role
*Proven ability to innovate and initiate new media coverage opportunities
*Exceptional written and oral communication skills, able to tailor messages to different audiences and spot opportunities to gain coverage of these messages
*Able to accurately produce and proof-read material
*Assertive with a willingness to challenge prejudice and defend organisational reputation
*High standard of office IT skills
*Excellent time management skills - able to manage multiple projects and hit deadlines
*Passionate about the organisation's campaigns and legal cases and willing to represent them
*Committed to Christian beliefs
Willing to work flexibly including working / being 'on call' out of normal office hours, from time to time


*Experience of working with 'story arcs' and media grids
*Experience of media monitoring tools and platforms and providing media training / rehearsal
*Good working knowledge of social media / web publishing platforms

There is an occupational requirement that the successful candidate be a practising Christian, committed to living in accordance with the organisation's statement of faith.
