PRU Teaching Assistant Roles
PRU Teaching Assistant Job
Currently recruiting for a KS3/4 pupil referral unit in Wolverhampton.
They are looking for at least 4 TAs to support their pupils on a 1:1 basis.
The pupils have previously been at the centre, but, can no longer offer anymore to these pupils. However, still wanting to support the pupils the centre is currently applying for funding which they are confident that they will obtain.
Although it is a PRU the centre is child focussed and believe in high standards. I have visited the school and their facilities are outstanding, with new building work to continue in the new year.
They are looking for someone that is able to communicate with children that are completely dis-engaged with education. Able to deliver the work that will be set for them you will also need to able to support the child in a variety of settings in Wolverhampton. They are looking for someone that is willing to go above and beyond.
The centre also offers twilight sessions for pupils so when their everyday curriculum isn't suitable for the child you will be flexible to work later at the centre. Someone who has worked in a setting such as this would be ideal but they are very unique and so someone with a youth worker background would also be suitable.
Some of the pupils that attend this setting can be higher profile within the local authority so a clear line needs to be drawn between you and the pupil where expectations are set but a trusting relationship can be built.
A very rewarding role and although a permanent contract isn't on offer immediately, there is every potential for this opportunity.
