Principal CAE Engineer
We require an experienced CAE Engineer with experience of design modelling and simulation within a transmission/powertrain related environment.
This role will include the use of simulation tools to support the design and analysis of new Hybrid Transmissions.
You will join a leading Automotive R&D facility based in the midlands where new engine and powertrain technologies are being developed, including gasoline and hybrid engine and transmission systems.
Degree qualified (Control/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automotive)
Maintaining and developing strong numeracy and literacy skills
Experience of modelling & simulating automotive powertrain systems with respect to system performance, dynamics & control and/or fuel economy simulations
Experience of deriving governing equations for components and systems from first principles
Proficient user of simulation software.
Experience of one or two of the following:
Romax, Matlab/Simulink, Adams, Abaqus, AVL Cruise, GT Suite, Carmaker.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Optimisation of gear geometry and shaft systems for Strength, Durability and NVH using Romax software
Develop and execute models of eMotor, geartrain and hydraulic systems to develop and improve powertrain concepts.
Support methods to generate duty cycles through simulation in Carmaker
Support the technical assessment of current and future hybrid powertrain technologies
Analyse and correlate simulation data from test measurements.
Other Features of Job:
Primary location will be at Birmingham.
Travel may be required but depends on project requirement
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
