Network Service Technician

This role offers a salary from £22,440 and is based in South London where you will be covering areas such as; Epsom, Brixton, Croydon, Bromley, Lewisham and Godalming. You will be expected to travel around your geographical area and you will also receive a generous Standby Allowance. There are full time, night time vacancies as well as day time positions available.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a field based engineer to provide excellent customer service to our client's customers by undertaking operational tasks, resolving customer issues and carrying out water network activities with the least disruption to supplies.

Within our client's organisation, network service technicians are required to support delivery and operations project work liaising and meeting with customers on a daily basis. You will offer support to any ongoing leakage activities and will respond in a timely manner to any emergency work that arises.

Key responsibilities of network service technician

You will be required to carry out various operational tasks in the field in an efficient manner - giving the best service to all stakeholders and customers involved.

Key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Operation of the water network, including controlling burst mains, ensuring isolation of mains to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries & complaints, resolving issues.
  • Ensure water quality compliance during repairs.
  • Act as local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks and other Health & Safety issues.
  • Responsible for investigating the clean water network to resolve poor asset performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and loss of supply.
  • Working in compliance with our procedures including Asset Management standards, Health & Safety and Streetworks legislation.
  • Working as part of a Standby Rota ensuring you are maintaining the Network 24 Hours a day.

Skills we are looking for?

Our client's customers are at the heart of everything they do so previous customer service experience within a constantly changing environment is essential.

They are looking for someone that has experience of working within an operational/network role, ideally with strong working knowledge of water industry procedures; this will include Safety, Health & Wellbeing and Streetworks. Their ideal candidate will have knowledge of domestic plumbing, water mains and leakage detection however field experience in any other industry is also considered. Alongside this, a New Road and Street Works certificate and water industry qualifications in operating water networks or an equivalent qualification is preferential but not essential.

As the role involves driving to multiple sites, you must be a confident driver, as well as holding a full, UK driving licence.
