Acorn are currently recruiting a Trainee Manufacturing Engineer on behalf of our client a Global Tier 1 Manufacturer to the automotive industry based in the County Durham area. A permanent position, this is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive company who are at the forefront of the automotive, manufacturing industry.

Contracted to 37.5 hours per week, working a 3 shift pattern Mon to Fri 7-3, 3-11, 11-7. Notable benefits for this position include:

Reporting directly to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will work as an integral part of the Manufacturing Team holding responsibility for operational engineering activities.

Day-to-Day duties will include, but are not limited to:

*Focus on the reduction of non value added activities whilst working towards the maintenance of the site KPI's.
*Implementation of robust countermeasures to customer and operational issues.
*Regular participation in improvement activities, as part of a multi-disciplined team, on existing facilities and equipment.
*Responsibility for the installation of identified improvement actions and customer driven product changes while minimising the effect on Facility output.
*Identify robust counter measures to customer and internal concerns.
*Control of PPM activities for robotic weld assembly fixtures together with maintenance of dimensional stability of all products.
*Assist in the smooth introduction of new products and manufacturing facilities.
*Support all manufacturing lines to achieve safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.
*Design, Manufacture and commission facility and fixture improvements.
*Support TPM and multi-skilled maintenance activities relating to tooling and fixtures.
*Carry out productivity improvement studies and kaizen activities.

To be considered this position you must be educated to HNC level in Mechanical or Production Engineering discipline and have:

*Undertaken a four year apprenticeship in a mechanical based discipline.
*Experience working within an Automotive 1st Tier Supplier.
*A good working knowledge of metal forming and fabrication processes.
*Experience of using relevant software including Autodesk products.
*A strong understanding of OEM Customer Specific Standards & Requirements.
*Demonstrated success in implementation of improvement activities.
