Job Description:

1. Context of the role:

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the competent management and delivery of one or more simultaneous projects. They will ensure value for money, responsiveness, competent management and communication of projects and thereby contributing to the professional standing of the project management team.

  • Customer Focus

    Provide a professional and proactive project management service for the customer base.

    To ensure the projects are delivered on time, on budget, with proactive communication re project progress and adherence to required standards and policies.

  • Delivery Focus

  • Deliver projects in compliance with agreed project management processes and procedures.

  • Apply the approved project management methodologies.

  • Deliver commissioned projects within agreed budgets, quality and timescales.

  • Deliver the projects so that they can be effectively handed over for ongoing IT support

    Leadership and Management

  • To actively contribute to the development of the ICT Strategy.

  • To keep abreast of developments in new technology and its implementation in order to follow best practice.

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships pre, during, and post project. Developing a high performing commercial organisation

  • Assist relevant peers in the planning and execution of system testing necessary for new and upgraded systems prior to release in the live environment to ensure continuity of service.

  • Build harmonious and effective relationships producing a consistently high standard of service.

  • Flexibility to travel to meetings and other locations in order to fulfil the requirements of the post.

  • Support the management by providing: business data validation and technical elaboration; mapping requirements to solution architecture and dependent systems; identifying technical specifications and interface definitions; manage IT stakeholders to deliver IT changes in line with project requirements; and produce delivery specifications.

    Delivery tasks include: working with the team to identify lifecycles for delivering IT changes in line with the programme roadmap; liaising with system owners and suppliers through design, development, testing and implementation phases; integration of delivery plans to ensure that key inbound/outbound dependencies are understood and managed; ensure that commercial and financial approval processes are followed; collate and evaluate costs across delivery options; add input to testing strategy and aid issue resolution.
  • Substantial experience of working in a commercial project management environment

  • Significant experience of managing IT projects, including project planning, project control and project management.

  • Significant experience in developing IT solutions in a customer facing environment.

  • Experience of managing project budgets.

  • Positive experience of managing client relationships at all levels.

  • Experience of negotiating with and managing suppliers.

  • Organisational and change management experience in a project delivery environment.

  • Ability to deal with incident response situations

  • Knowledge:

  • Data: Well developed data analysis and interpretation skills involving highly complex data, with outstanding analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Advanced working knowledge and proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and internet use)

    • Qualifications:

      Qualified to degree level or equivalent level of experience in a relevant role.

    • Evidence of continuing professional development

      Project management qualification or equivalent experience e.g. Prince 2 or MSP

      The lower pay rate advertised in this job description is the highest daily PAYE pay rate that the client is willing to pay up to. The higher pay rate advertised in this job description is the highest Umbrella Company Pay Rate that the client is willing to pay up to.
