Job description:

Job Description Summary This is a fantastic opportunity for a Pilot Plant Manager who will have responsibility for managing the day to day operations of the pilot plant, including scheduling, maintenance of the pilot plant areas and line management of the supervisors and senior scientists. This position has responsibility to ensure that Pilot Plant operations are executed to GMP operations including pre and post batch activities. To support the processes through both internal and external transfer and production life cycle including support of GMP operations and transfer of process to other Lonza sites globally.
Job Description

•Lead, coach and mentor the Pilot team of Senior Scientists and team leaders as a member of the MSAT leadership team
•Deputizes for the Head of MSAT as required.
•Provides oversight of both internal and external customer requirements in scheduling and pilot plant operations according to business plans and site/network needs working closely with manufacturing, program management and commercial development.
•Provides technical knowledge/expertise to both internal and external customers in planning and execution of pilot plant batches to ensure successful outcomes
•Manage the pilot plant headcount and budgets and financial cost center control for external and internal customers including the expertise and use of SAP transactions and system functionality
•Ensure ownership of pilot plant facilities, including Quality, 6S, EHS training and being accountable for these aspects for the pilot team leading continuous improvement projects including Capex delivery
•Manage all Pilot operations including problem resolution to ensures effective communication cross funtionally - within pilot team, MSAT support teams, Manufacturing, Process Development, Program Management, Engineering, Procurement, Financial and to external customers.

Required profile:

The successful candidate will have the following criteria:

•Have a degree in a science discipline - ideally minimum BSc/BEng in biological sciences/Biochemical engineering or have demonstratable equivalent relevant experience
•Be able to demonstrate indepth technical knowledge and expertise in mammalian Cell Upstream and Downstream processing
•Have gained significant experience in laboratory or pilot scale operations in biopharmaceutical development technology transfer of manufacturing environments
•Have gained previous management and or project management experience in a relevant position
•Have strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills
•Have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and flexible in managing change and resolution of complex problems.
