SEND Teaching Assistant job in Smethwick to start in January 2018

A two form entry mainstream primary school based in Smethwick are looking for a teaching assistant to support a specific pupil with Special Educational Needs in the Year 2 class.

The position is to support a specific child with Downs syndrome and moderate behaviour difficulties. You will be working inside and outside the classroom on a 1-1 and basis supporting and advancing the pupil's learning and inclusion within the classroom. This will require liaising with other staff members and external agencies to ensure that barriers to learning are removed. An understanding of an inclusive ethos, along with knowledge of SEND is essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistant Support or equivalent
Hold GCSE grade C in Maths and English
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
A proven track record of working on a 1-1 and small groups basis in an educational setting
Familiar with EHCP formulation, delivery and review.
Be able to plan and deliver appropriate programmes of work to meet individual pupil needs and targets.
Excellent communication skills with parents and outside agencies
Be dedicated to supporting this pupil's social and educational inclusion.

The teaching assistant job in Sandwell is to start in January 2017 27.5 hrs. Monday - Friday term time only for the full academic year.
