EJ156 - Field Service Engineer



Location: Cirencester



Salary: £33,500 - £36,000 + 15% shift allowance.



Overtime is also payable at 1.25 times the contracted hourly rate. An on call allowance is also paid daily for every complete day spent on call; the allowance is currently £37 per day. Company van, pension and medical scheme provided.



The field engineers are responsible for commissioning, maintaining, repairing and occasionally modifying a range of power protection products. This role is home based with daily travel into London and across the UK.

This role will suit ex-military candidates although all applications are welcome. Previous experience in a field service role is highly desirable.


Main Responsibilities:


• Commission, maintain, repair and occasionally modify UPS systems based on our clients sites.

• Ensure arrival at site, on time, with all of the necessary tools, spares and equipment required to complete the assigned task. (All tools and instrumentation are provided and maintained by the company).

• Be available to attend customer’s sites at any time of day or night if required to do so when on call. New engineers are expected to get up to speed quickly and will be required to join the on call list as soon as possible and no later than 6 months after their employment starts.

• Prepared to work regular weekends and occasional nights and be available to travel countrywide and occasionally to Europe, they must also be prepared to occasionally stay away from home.


Skills and Qualifications:


• Minimum of ONC, HNC, HND or equivalent in Electronic / Electrical engineering with a bias towards power electronics.
• Knowledge of regulator and logic control systems, rotating machines (Synchronous, Asynchronous motors) power rectifiers and inverter drives.
• Well-presented, confident person with good oral and written communication skills.
• Flexible and can cope with change at short notice.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Computer literate: Be able to navigate directory structures and use standard MS type office packages.
• Good self-organisation and will be expected to manage their time, equipment, company vehicle and reports.
• Able to present paperwork and electronic submissions within specified timeframes.
• Good practical, technical and problem solving skills.
• Able to use basic hand tools, assorted electrical instruments and test equipment (DVMs, Clamp meters, Insulation testers and Oscilloscopes).
