You will need to be practical, flexible, able to work independently, and self-sufficient. Experience of manual testing, and also exposure to automated, would be absolutely perfect

Working hours:
9.00am - 5.30pm Mon - Fri, with one hour for lunch

Team set up:
20 people in the dept, 3 QA engineers, mostly working from home. Reporting to the Software QA Lead
Skills and Experience

Essential skills:
A recognised QA qualification plus proven work experience as described below, or practical experience in an environment with a strong QA ethos but with a longer period of work experience than detailed below.
Experience of working and interacting in an Agile development environment.
Web based application testing
A minimum of 2+ years proven experience in software development/testing and strong interaction & understanding of a software development environment.

Desirable skills:
Degree or equivalent in a computing related discipline.
UX work, Usability testing, HCI testing.
Previous experience in a quality assurance or support.
Experience of automated test environments.
High standard of documentation.
Developing software using Python would be an advantage.
A good understanding of Windows PCs, Apple Mac, LINUX, Unix systems.

Have an interest in, and aptitude for learning new technologies

The Role
Responsible for product testing and QA within an Agile development team. This will include test planning, documentation of test scenarios, estimation of test work and manual testing, as well as the investigation into support issues. There will also be the opportunity to work with an automated test environment. Organising tasks with other members of the team. Update and maintain technical information required for the ongoing support of the products, and to liaise between software development and professional services/support teams.

Conduct software UI, Usability and other types of testing as required, and assist with support work and associated investigations.
Generate, maintain and advise on test criteria used within an agile software development environment.
Monitor quality issues, ensuring that standards are being followed. Update and maintain systems and processes to support this.
Any other duties as required from time to time.

Pension (after 3 month probationary period)

Holidays - 25 + 8 days. Rising by one day per every year worked up to a maximum of 30+8.
Annual leave:
25 days per annum, increasing by one day for each full year worked up to a maximum of 30 days, plus 8 statutory public holidays.

3 months

Working Environment
The QA Test Engineer role is office based, however there may occasionally be a requirement to travel. As part of the team, the successful applicant will need to work with the other team members, sharing skills, knowledge and experience.
