Background:

The IT Platforms team is accountable for Aviva’s core platforms enabling service and change delivery while guaranteeing our platforms are secure, highly available and agile. The area is key to delivering Aviva’s strategy as a Digital First organisation and is the source of Aviva’s software engineering capability.

To succeed, the Global Platforms team must achieve world class levels of platform availability whilst simultaneously providing scalable and agile systems that are simple and cost effective to change.

Finance & Data Platforms

Within this team we facilitate over £50b of payment and collections each year which flow through our financial reporting. We provision customer, policy and transaction data supporting valuation, accounting and business MI.

The team lead on:

Bringing together and driving solutions for Finance Systems and Data Warehousing across the UK Businesses.Driving platform stability, integrity and security for their customers through robust operational discipline.Ensuring that platform change and engagement is simple, fast and cost effective by building world class engineering capability, enabling us to Defy Uncertainty for our customers at pace.Ensuring that the platforms remain highly competitive and cost optimised by driving simplification in all aspects, strong partnerships and a culture of innovation and agile working.Support Business Units with the implementation of the Aviva Data Strategy, supporting consolidation of data whilst enabling self-service.Key systems owned and managed by this area include Oracle eBusiness suite, Banking & Payment systems, Life and GI Data Warehouses as well as modelling systems like Prophet and ALGO.Role Purpose:

Environment Specialists provide expertise within the team on the infrastructure and middle-ware which underpins the application. The role is required in each platform area to drive knowledge and management of the infrastructure guaranteeing we achieve excellent service, value for money and support our transition to Cloud.

Infrastructure is stable, resilient and reliable with little to no high severity outage attributable to the elements within scope.The CMDB is complete, accurate and reliable giving a true picture of the infrastructure and middle-ware underpinning the application.The cost of infrastructure is clear, transparent and rationalised guaranteeing value for money and an appropriate TCO.KPIs:Volume of high severity incidents.Accuracy and completeness of the CMDB (as measured by Config).Accuracy and completeness of the billing data.Volume of infrastructure decommissioned.Percentage of the application estate which is hosted in the Cloud (supporting).Key aspects of the role:

Guarantee platforms are stable and available for change delivery within Aviva.Provide deep expertise in the infrastructure and middle-ware which underpins all applications within the platform areas.Manage Total Cost of Ownership (TCO):Guarantees the accuracy of the records held in the CMDB for the infrastructure elements of the platforms.Receives, reviews and approves the bill(s) in relation to infrastructure consumed by the platform confirming it is complete, accurate and appropriate.Leads on decommissioning and estate management activity within the platform area guaranteeing infrastructure are sized appropriately to deliver service at an appropriate cost.Support transition to Cloud - guarantees infrastructure elements of the activity are fully considered; guarantees transition to cloud enables transparent costing and resilient service.Support capacity planning, software licensing, vulnerability management and other activity with expertise on how the application interacts with the infrastructure.Confirms standards, practices and disciplines are in place to guarantee maintenance of scripts and interfaces underpinning the platforms use of Infrastructure (including Cloud technology).Risks & Controls:

Identify, own and manage the specific key risks and/or IT controls and BP standards that you are identified as the owner and/or nominee for on iCARE.Ensure that issues and actions associated to controls / risks are remediated in a timely manner.Maintain appropriate records and ensure that controls are sufficiently well designed and operating effectively to keep the risks that they mitigate within Aviva's tolerance level.Report and escalate the status of the relevant risks, controls and standards as appropriate.Resource Complexity:

Accountable for working within policy and guidelines, applying technical knowledge and expertise.May have supervisory/task management responsibility for a group of Aviva team members and/or Third Party and GSP resource.Leadership roles support a team of front line staff through delegated tasks including: work scheduling, budget monitoring, coaching and problem solving, induction, training, and helping with recruitment and performance appraisal and development processes.Problem Solving:

Accountable for solving problems and dealing with difficulties in line with policy, process and other guidelines applying technical knowledge and expertise.May be required to support front line staff by giving advice or by taking on accountability to resolve more complex problems.Change

Deliver change in a way that takes account of the infrastructure impacts including appropriate sizing, resilience and other Service Fundamental consideration (supporting the Service Managers and Run Managers in delivering Service Fundamentals).Accountable for recommending change based on expert know how and analysis of precedent and similar previous problems.Experience / Skills Required:

Experience of large scale estate and environment management.Infrastructure and/or middleware background.Broad knowledge of Aviva systems and delivery methods used across multi application estate.Experience of running and managing enterprise applications in a Cloud environment.Experience in working with multi sourced operating models and teams.Experience in dealing with problems and quick turn around requirements in a fast paced environment.Excellent stakeholder management.Highly self-motivated and willingness to learn, explore and be innovative.Knowledge of Aviva’s charging landscape and cost of Global IT Platforms Service.Negotiating and influencing across a range of roles and levels, including demonstrating the benefit of deliverables and support services.Additional Information:
