Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of weapon systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Specialist at our Weapon Systems UK site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Technical Specialist, you will provide technical expertise across all weapon systems products, both Land and Naval. You will be working throughout all stages of the product lifecycle from design and development, through to manufacture, verification, validation, acceptance and support. From a technical aspect you will work with Engineering teams to design, review, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Your main responsibilities as a Technical Specialist will involve:
Preparing and/or overseeing the definition of system requirements, the development of specifications and the preparation of complex and business critical engineering designs
Developing, maintaining and controlling the technical interface to customers, suppliers and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues and to deliver contractual commitments
Validating any systems/equipment which may include the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and the writing/investigation of test problem reports
Developing strong links with customers to underpin our commitment to customer satisfaction and to assist in identifying and maximising the potential of new business opportunities
Liaising with customer representatives, classification authorities, suppliers and other internal functions, as necessary, to discuss technical issues and problems
Scheduling your own work and that of subordinates to meet target timescales and budget demands, including the creation of low level schedules and task plans
Mentoring and motivating subordinates to ensure the accountabilities of the business are delivered and to enable them to maximise their potential
Your skills and qualifications:
Health and Safety awareness, including Product Safety
Degree qualified in relevant engineering subject (Chartered or working towards)
Systems engineering background to include complex engineering projects
Working knowledge of MATLAB/ Simulink (or equivalent package)
Working knowledge of motion control systems
Defence domain experience
