Training Officer

• Identify safety related and mandatory training needs through job analysis and regular consultation with H&S Manager, site managers and Human resources department. This is a Hands on Technical equipment Trainer role. In particular ensure that all statutory training requirements are met (as a minimum FLT, PPT, Crane, MEWP, Fire, Safety Inductions) through the provision of “hands on” instruction and assessment of employee competence. 12 months+ contract poss becoming permanent. £30-35,000 dep on experience for this Trainer role. A Stable work record is essential for this Training Officer role
• Produce and implement programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties within the organisation and to the required standard
• Produce training material for in-house training, including course assessment and evaluation
• The Trainer will Monitor, deliver and evaluate training to ensure compliance
• Amend and revise programmes as necessary in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment and legislation
• Help line managers solve specific training problems
• Keep up to date with developments in training and Industry by reading relevant journals, attending relevant courses
• Undertake all necessary administration associated with booking courses etc ensuring all training is accurately recorded (by updating training matrices, & personnel training files).
• Consider the costs of planned programmes and keep within budgets
• Promote a positive H&S culture within the organisation
• Ability to work with the Health and safety Manager and colleagues to help maintain the internal health and safety standards within the operational portfolio.
• Ensure that training programmes are optimised with the number of delegates proportionate to the subject matter being delivered. Carry out any other reasonable request made by line manager to support departmental or company objectives
• Formulate, present Reports on training performance and Gap analysis
• Attend Safety representatives meeting and report overall training performance
• Train the Trainer or equivalent qualification
• RTITB Forklift Truck Instructor qualification
• Overhead Crane, MEWP, Scissor Lift, training certificates and competency prove
• Fire, Manual Handling, Work at heights training certificates
• A minimum of 2 years previous experience within a heavy manufacturing environment in a similar role
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
• The Training Officer will be a highly motivated individual with initiative, self-confidence, with the drive and the ability to motivate others and change people’s attitudes when necessary
• Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently whilst meeting deadlines and objectives
• Demonstrate a pro-active approach demonstrate personal commitment to improve training standards
• Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word & PowerPoint
•The Trainer will hold a valid driving license and able to commute or deliver training between 2 sites (9miles apart)
• Previous experience of working in a Construction Materials Manufacturing and/or High risk manufacturing site environment
• First Aid at Work, Confined spaces instruction certification
• Health Safety qualification (IOSH Managing or NEBOSH Qualification)
• Audit skills
