The Footwear technologist is responsible for assisting the footwear team with the day-to-day technical requirements of development samples in line with the critical path. Working from initial sample to pre-production across men’s, ladies and kids footwear. The role will involve liaising with the buyers as well as factories in the Far East, India and Europe to ensure development samples meet quality, style and fit expectations and to ensure product complies 3ith REACH safety standards.

Job Summary

•Work from and initial sample submission through to delivery in our Warehouse.
•Improve efficiency and quality and keep up-to date on footwear standards.
•Provide technical and development support to buyers and advise on safety compliance for other associated brands.
•Create technical specs and work with overseas suppliers.
•Manage fit sessions and relay fit comments back to factories and suppliers.
•Advise on construction, fit, development and materials.
•Manage the approval and sealing process.
•You will be required to travel within the UK from time to time, to deal with fit issues with UK supplier.
•Update and maintain the technical manuals as well as requesting and managing test reports.
•Work with warehouse QC team to ensure quality is acceptable to approved technical standards.
•Manage wearer trials and report writing.
•Keep up to date on current footwear legislations.
•Proactive approach and good presentation skills
•Along with the buying team investigate high returning lines making suggesting on product going forward

What you'll need to succeed
•You will ideally have a footwear technology background.
• Experience of working with multi product footwear with a good knowledge of compliance.
•Good understanding of production capability from a commercial and design perspective
•Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with a sound appreciation for the critical path
•You should have testing experience being able to understand third party test reports and be able to take the appropriate actions where necessary.
•A competent knowledge of MS word and Excel.
•You must be flexible to travel. You must also hold a full UK driver’s license.
•A minimum of 3 years industry experience is required.
•This position will suit those from a retail or wholesale background.
•You will be a good communicator and will be up to date on current footwear legislations; be able to demonstrate a good understanding in footwear construction together with good manufacturing knowledge would be a bonus.
