Actavis UK Limited
From £22,000 to £30,000 per annum + bonus + significant benefits
30 Nov 2017
03 Jan 2018
Contract Type
Full Time
Role: Full-time, permanent (with tailored training and mentoring to support your development)

Location: Barnstaple, Devon

Salary: £22k – £30k + bonus + significant benefits

The Role:

We’re seeking a meticulous and customer-focussed Validation Technician to provide a validation resource for our onsite projects, and the continuous improvement of our systems and procedures. In this varied role, you’ll work as part of a team on validation activities across the lifecycle of our products, making it a great opportunity to gain broad experience, supported by tailored training and mentoring to facilitate your development. On a daily basis, this means you could be helping us bring new products to the site by proving their safe and consistent manufacturing (writing protocols, testing product, generating and handling output data and resolving any deviations), assessing the plant’s cleanliness through swab testing and conducting stage 3 OPV and LCA assessments to identify improvements. Supporting cross-functional projects, you’ll work closely with departments across the business to ensure work is completed to the required regulatory and GMP standards, whilst maintaining all validation documents, systems and procedures. In addition, you’ll interpret our Production and QC data, distilling it to an easily understandable format and presenting it to management, regulatory authorities or customers. You may also get to travel to our other sites or visit suppliers to support your continued development.

The Person:

As a person, you’re able to see the big picture and the detail at the same time. You’re a good team player, always happy to support your colleagues to meet targets, but equally comfortable working independently. With strong organisation skills, you’re able to prioritise conflicting tasks, drive projects through to completion and remain accurate and methodical, even under pressure. Your strong analytical mind and numeracy skills mean handling large data sets doesn’t faze you, whilst your excellent communication skills mean you’re happy working with colleagues at all levels with the ability to diplomatically challenge, influence and persuade, as required. Some experience of working with validation or qualification principles would be useful, but not essential – the right mind set and a genuine interest to learn about this field is more important. Previous experience of working in a highly regulated, cleanroom or GMP environment (e.g. pharmaceuticals, food, aerospace) or experience working in a technical science or engineering role would be beneficial (e.g. pharma tech, QC, QA, R&D, laboratory), particularly with experience of using statistical assessment tools and software, managing projects, working to health & safety requirements or possessing an understanding of electrical / mechanical installation. Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and having the flexibility to work around standard working hours (if required), is essential.

The Rewards:

In return, we offer a competitive salary package (with bonus scheme), a generous pension scheme and 27 days’ holiday per year (plus bank holidays). We also offer a range of other benefits to support our team, including childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, subsidised restaurant facilities, sports and social club and healthcare options. Not to mention the opportunity to be part of a progressive and expanding business with increasing global reach, and the support of ongoing training and development.

How to Apply:

If you possess the experience, passion and ability to make this role a success, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV with cover letter by clicking the Apply button before 8th December or for further details you can contact Hattie via email on hattie_booth [at]
