Primary Teacher Lewisham 'Good' Ofsted Specialist PRU for social, emotional and mental health needs January start Pupil Referral Unit 140 - 170 daily rate (dependant on experience within a PRU environment) A primary PRU for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties are looking for a primary teacher to start in January. As a primary teacher, you will be required to teach across the curriculum and be able to plan engaging sessions that accommodate all student's needs. Primary teachers should be able to deploy support staff effectively and have experience supporting students with a range of Special Needs. Due to the nature of the students, who can exhibit aggressive behaviour, strong and varied behaviour management strategies are a must. To be eligible for this primary teacher role you must have QTS - the school will unfortunately not look at teachers without this. The ideal SEMHD teacher: At least 1 years' experience teaching within a primary mainstream/SEN setting Has QTS (essential) Can use a range of behaviour management techniques Team Teach (desirable) Ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging sessions This is a PRU that caters for students at KS1 and 2 level across 2 sites. This particular role will be based at the main site, located a 5 minute walk from Lee station. The school believes that staff should be stress-free and have a sensible work-life balance so the students finish early on a Friday so that staff can conduct their weekly meeting then and they run team-building events during this time as well.
