Following all Health & Safety procedures at all times.
To provide a pro-active approach to the prevention of equipment failure and ensuring the schedule PMs are complete as planned. Support the production and engineering functions with machine care, breakdown & repair, projects and development as required.
Ensure Quality, Waste and Efficiency targets are met by working as an integral part of the manufacturing team.

Key responsibilities

1. Carry out work assignments issued by Lead Engineer and maximise effectiveness of the shift at all times by ensuring efficient completion of tasks.

2. Compliance with Company policies, procedures and regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP) and ensure these are followed to the required standard.

3. Support the development and implementation of balanced PPM schedules across the network.

4. Supports the Engineering Planning Process and deputises for the Engineering Planner

5. Demonstrate a team approach with regard to maintenance and hygiene of equipment and support operators and operations team.

6. Follow all work instructions and procedures at all times.

7. Ensure that all Work Orders and PPM’s issued to the shift are completed and signed off in CMMS.

8. Work with other functions as part of the manufacturing team to ensure efficient running of assets and carry out prioritised work as agreed.

9. Compliance with Company policies, procedures and regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP) and ensure these are followed to the required standard.

10. Resolve mechanical and/or electrical problems in a timely fashion.

11. Identify and analyse problems before crises and determine appropriate action and follow-up.

12. Apply structured problem techniques to help identify the root cause of asset failures.

13. Ensure all parts removed from stores is following stock movement process, replenishment orders are complete without fail.

14. Provide the Lead Engineer with information on all engineering downtime attended on shift, related quality issue, work orders completed, PM’s completed and other details as required.

15. Supports CAPEX projects from the implementation and design phase through to execution & completion.

16. Deputise for Engineering Team Leaders and takes responsibility for the engineering team on shift.

17. Supervise contractors attending site and ensure the correct Contractor Control documentation is completed and issued.

18. Complete “Permit to Work’ system when appropriate.

2. Person Specification

GCSE or equivalent. (A to C qualifications. Math’s & English essential)

ONC/HNC or equivalent.
Possess 17th Edition Certification (electricians)


Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications / time served apprenticeship.
3 Years’ experience of working in an automated production environment.
A good standard of both written and oral English
Basic Six Sigma / Lean Knowledge
Basic Health & Safety
Data and analytical skills
Computer literate. (word/excel/windows based packages)
Desirable skills - PLC, servo drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, FLT license.

Able to work on own initiative.
Able to problem solve in high production based environment.
Able to play a key role in the continuing improvement of the factory equipment and maintenance.
Familiar with planned and preventive maintenance.
Safe handling materials.
Able to work between different sites if required

The role operates on a night shift working Monday to Friday.

Salary is in the region of £35,000 per annum.
