Due to a departmental change, Birmingham City Council and Hays, we are now looking to recruit a Litigation / Whistleblowing Solicitor to work in the heart of the city centre on a temporary basis. Your new role

Following the Trojan Horse investigation into schools, you will be working in a unique department that will be investigating and responding to complaints received as part of the whistleblowing process. You will be reviewing and collating responses and reporting to the Senior Officers and City Solicitor. In addition, it will be your responsibility to allocate investigators to certain cases and complaints and also monitor and co-ordinate their workload. There will be a high degree of report drafting, and through doing so, reporting on any trends or patterns that may occur.

What you'll need to succeed

You will either be an experienced or newly qualified Solicitor with a background in Civil Litigation, Employment or Education / Schools and have strong organisational and analytical skills. You will have experience in report drafting and complaint handling. You will be a strong communicator who is confident in relaying information, even if it would not be well received. It would be highly beneficial if you have an understanding of the Public Interest Disclosure Act (1998) and can demonstrate strategic thinking and be self motivated.
