Interim Engineering Manager – Derbyshire

£350 - £400 per day - 6 Month Contract

Immediate Start

This well-established growing business is looking to streamline their maintenance programme to ensure that they are able to operate at their maximum potential. The facility is looking to restructure and help reduce both its wastage and operational down time. The number of machine breakdowns is higher than it should be, this is due to the lack of a pre-planned maintenance schedule. Unfortunately, the maintenance team are not able to perform any continuous improvement or PPM due to the number of breakdowns that are happening and this is impacting on the productivity of the business. This is a challenging role that will suit a professional interim that can identify problems, pick the right solutions and implement that change. The Interim Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency of the manufacturing plant

  • Develop a pre-planned maintenance schedule

  • Implement the PPM and lead that change effectively

  • Use engineering skills to identify opportunities to streamline the manufacturing process

  • CAPEX Project management

  • Execute lean manufacturing processes to increase effectiveness

  • Day to day operational management of the maintenance team – 10 direct reports

  • Leadership of the team to help raise standards and work practices

  • Ensuring the maintenance team are efficient in their reactive maintenance, reduce the amount of down time.

  • Introduce a cost-effective stores and spares department

The Interim Engineering Manager will need the following skills to be considered for this role:

  • Proven track-record in similar Engineering Management roles

  • Previous experience in implementing new PPM schedules

  • Good engineering knowledge and exposure to process manufacturing environments

  • Strong management and leadership skills

  • Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering

  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement capability

  • Change management experience

  • Previous interim roles in the process sectors including food, chemical, pharmaceutical, brewing or healthcare.

  • Effective communicator, ability to adapt, direct and assertive
  • Lead by example – set the right standards
