The Global Systems Unix team maintains TNS’ global deployment of Linux and Unix systems, managing the entire lifecycle of VMs and physical servers from the hardware up through the operating system. These systems form the foundation of many of the services that the company delivers to its customers. The Unix Engineer III is responsible for working with other Global Systems Unix team members and various other teams throughout the organization to deliver OS level services, ensuring that systems perform as defined by internal and external customer requirements.

The individual in this role will also be part of evolving the method of delivering service to our customers, doing so with a strong emphasis on system deployment automation and configuration management.

Responsibilities
•Provides full life-cycle engineering and administrative support of Linux/Unix infrastructure for corporate and production platforms
•Responsible for all server hardware and Linux/Unix operating systems for globally deployed systems
•Implements and operates tactical plans that align with management-defined strategies to meet corporate, divisional, and team goals
•Assists in continuous improvement of service delivery to internal and external customers
•Creates, maintains, and improves documentation of processes, architecture, and other infrastructure elements
•Identifies opportunities for system administration and configuration management automation, and assists in design and implementation of automation
•Suggests and implements improvements in configuration management processes and tools
•Participates in on-call rotation


Required profile:

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively
•Excellent judgement, and demonstration of initiative and ownership of responsibilities and issue resolution
•Demonstrated ability to take a project from conception to completion Technical Qualifications
•5+ years’ experience managing Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS preferred)
•Automation experience with Ansible
•Version control experience using git
•Experience creating and debugging Bash scripts and crontabs
Strong understanding of RPM, yum and repository management concepts
•Experience diagnosing and resolving OS performance issues Optional Desired Qualifications
•Global infrastructure support experience preferred
•Experience with Solaris preferred
•Experience with BIND preferred
•Experience with VMware preferred
•Experience with OpenStack and AWS highly desired
•Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI tools helpful
•Knowledge of PCI requirements and controls desired Education and Certifications
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
•ITIL certification preferred
