Data centre, 1st line support helpdesk technical shift work
ServerHouse is a regional data centre provider operating from two sites (Segensworth and Cams Estate) in Fareham. We have been providing specialist Internet services to a wide range of customers for 20 years. We're a small and friendly team and provide a proactive positive work environment.
We provide a number of services including, Internet connectivity, managed IT, networking, data centre space, wireless Internet and lots more besides.
Due to continued growth we're now looking to add another member to join our data centre technical support team.
The role includes a varied number of tasks
- 1st line telehphone support
- Handling tickets
- Dealing with customers face to face
- Assisting customers
- Problem solving
- Problem diagnosis
- Windows, Linux
- M&E diagnosis and reporting
- Installing servers
- Auditing, labeling, connected
- Shift work (including nights and Christmas)
The position will be supporting our customers with the services we provide them.
We hold ourselves to a high standard and expect all our customers to be happy with the service we provide them. We do this by extensive monitoring and approaching problems in a proactive manner.
A such this is a very wide ranging and diverse role which'll include house keeping tasks like receiving deliveries through to providing telephone support and technical assistance to customers.
It will also include working on clients sites, working face to face with customers, working on various operating systems (Linux, Windows and more) working with ticketing systems, e-mail, various monitoring systems.
Some experience with software programming such as Bash, C, Java, HTML, CSS or PHP would be advantageous.
The data centre also runs a number of electrical and cooling systems to support the IT load including generators and UPS systems for which you'd be involved with operating.
You would be working shifts including nights, currently we have a 5 on 5 off system where you would do 5 early shifts (07:00 - 15:00) followed by 5 rest days, then 5 lates (14:00 - 22:00) another 5 rest days and then 5 nights (22:00 - 07:00) followed by another 5 rest days before restarting on earlies.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an enthusiastic candidate with the right attitude towards problem solving and a good understanding of providing a high level of service and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout.
Ideally they should have a good grasp of IT including operating systems, networking and hardware plus some understanding of basic mechanics.
We operate under ISO9001 and ISO27001 so experience of these systems would be useful
Full training will be given and no formal qualifications are necessary. The right candidate would be able to progress onto a more senior role with opportunities to learn and train further.
