Solutions Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a World Renowned Global Automotive Supplier based in Staffordshire. We are recruiting for a Packaging Engineer to work on a permanent basis.

This candidate will be responsible for monitoring levels & quality of packaging through data analysis & engagement, with customers, internal departments & suppliers. Organise trial activity on production lines in line with improvement activity plans. Gain trial approval via the GCPS trial authorisation process. Liaise with internal departments to plan organise the timing & methodology of trials. Support CAPEX projects, technical specifications and commissioning.


·Control and support GWM specific packaging requirement at all levels (BOP's, Internal and customer).

·Manages the control of lease packaging e.g. Chep and Gefco (Invoice queries)

·Monitor levels, targets to actuals, adjust systems accordingly and to action / progress variances when applicable.

·Implementation of Pallet cleaning process where applicable

·Update and maintain standards in line with packaging operations and ordering. Specifically, to maintain SAP to enable efficient packaging controls.

·Maintain internal and customer packaging documentation

·KPI, review and effective communication with customers and suppliers relevant to packaging systems / levels adherence on a regular basis.

·Responsible for Aftermarket / Export and Bank stock packaging (Disposable Packaging Stock Control and forecast)

·Be a key member of the NPI GPCS process with the responsibility for supporting / co-ordinating all GWM packaging planning and related activities.

·Support the ordering process for customer packaging e.g. Magna Gratz

·100% availability of packaging to support the production plan

·Packaging optimisation

·Control of damage and repair process

·Active instigation / participation in Continuous Improvement / problem solving activities

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

·Literate and numerate to GCSE / A Level

·Technical diploma (packaging desirable)

·Demonstrated success in a high quality, high volume, lean environment.

·Business process experience - Proven track record with automotive sector (possibly 1st tier)

·Experience within a packaging control environment

·Planning and Organisational skills.

·Self-drive and tenacity

·Interpersonal skills - Effective within or driving a team

·Proactive and decisiveness


·Dayshift position


·39 hours per week
