We are currently recruiting for an Operations NPD Coordinator to support the operations team in efficiently and effectively implementing new product development projects into the factory. This role will see the successful candidate reporting into the Continuous Improvement Manager and feeding into the Plant Leadership team for the Telford site. You will need to work effectively within a project team and have previous experience of Operational functions, managing internal customer relationships, implementing new products into a factory and a knowledge of basic lean principles would be desirable.

Your challenge

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

* Complete operational feasibility studies and risk assessments for all NPD projects, feeding into the PEP process.
* Review and sign off all New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) trials, ensuring that new projects don't have any detrimental impact on site strategy: safety, quality, service, cost and people.
* Partner with NPD colleagues in attendance to support complex trials and launches.
* Lead development of trial and launch checklists and sign off process/documentation.
* Sign off official handover of launches from NPD to Operations.
* Ensure products are costed with accurate operational site costs (machine speeds/changeover times/fixed material losses/line efficiency/output/labour forecasting).
* Work with packaging, NPD and group colleagues to deliver MEK and optimisation projects.
* Analyse daily/weekly/monthly material loss information to identify optimisation opportunities.
* Provide information to Private Label (PL) projects team to ensure robust NPD critical paths are in place with accurate milestones and time lines.
* Conduct regular review meetings with the cross functional site team for all projects, ensuring timescales and project KPI's are met.
* Ensure robust specifications for materials are in place to achieve product quality and line efficiency targets.
* Ensure desktop HACCP reviews are carried out for all new launches.
* Ensure robust sign off and handover of new products to the relevant Line Leaders responsible for on-going production.
* Ensure the site follows and complies with agreed processes and systems to introduce NPD to the site.
* Accountability within the Operations for products being launched on time in full. Liaise with site teams to ensure action plans are in place and individuals are clear on responsibilities.
* Ensure line efficiency targets are met at time of launch for the new products to ensure plan and service level attainment.
* Review and own process for creating, accepting, using IPS's (Internal Product Specifications) in the factory.
* Ensure robust specifications for materials are in place to achieve product quality and line efficiency targets.
* Accountable for the update of internal systems (Proleit, SAP, Colos) with new recipe information in line with stage gate process - ensuring no delays in production.
* Ensure information on future projects are communicated to all levels within appropriate departments - to include daily meeting and Operations Meeting attendance where necessary
* Track performance/measures of success of new products at the site and feed in to the future NPD plans.

Key skills & experience:

* Professional qualification in Food and drinks industry is essential.
* Health and safety qualification is desirable.
* Food Hygiene qualification.
* Continuous Improvement/Lean qualification is desirable.
* Experience in NPD.
* Experience in managing critical paths.
* Strong communication and negation skills.
